A Super Natural Return to Love (2004)
A Super Natural Return to Love is an evening-length work for six dancers by choreographer luciana achugar, with an original score by Gary Greenblatt and Pierre DeGaillande, lighting design by Chloe Z Brown, set design by Illya Azaroff, and performance by achugar, Hilary Clark, Jennifer Kjos, Melinda Lee, Melanie Maar and Beatrice Wong. The work premiered in December, 2004, at Dance Theater Workshop in New York City.
A Super Natural Return to Love takes over the stage with six uncivilized women in a hyper-drama in perpetual transformation. Suggesting the possibility of a collective body, it celebrates the pleasures of the flesh, desire and excess of emotion. A Greek tragedy with only a chorus lamenting the oppression in homogenization.
A Super Natural Return to Love was commissioned by the Bessie Schönberg/First Light commissioning program of Dance Theater Workshop with funds from the Jerome Foundation with additional support from Meet the Composer to underwrite music by Gary Greenblatt and Pierre de Gaillande.
A Super Natural Return to Love was presented at the Walker Art Center's McGuire Theater in April and May of 2009 as part of New World Dance: New York.
